SHIPS AND SEAMEN.

COMMONWEALTH VESSEL MANNED. INTER-STATE OWNERS STILL STAY OUT. IBy Electric Cable —Copyright/} (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Friday, 1.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 9. The crews for Eromanga and Dilga, of the Commonwealth Lino, were signed on without difficulty and the vessels will sail shortly. No further trouble is expected in this line, but there has been no change in the dispute between the seamen and the inter-Statc companies. Both sides arc awaiting the result of the Sydney Union Delegates’ visit to Melbourne to interview the Steamship Owners' Association at Melbourne. The Owners’ Association refused to hold a conference with the union delegates from Sydney, but allowed them to put their case before the owners. Certain proposals wore made by the unionists and owners then announced they would consider them, but would adhere to their previous decision and not participate in the agreement entered into by the Commonwealth Lino and the marine transport group. MORT’S DOCK RESUMES. (Received Thursday, 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 9. After a conference of the management of Mort’s dock and the men, with Mr. Lang present, the men gave an undertaking that they would proceed to work uninterruptedly, and the management decided to re-open the works on Friday. There will be no victimisation and the summons issued by the management against the unions concerned will be withdrawn.
