“TO THE LAST BUTTON.”
MOBILISING FRENCH NATION FOR WAR. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Rceived Friday 2 a.m.) LONDON, July 8. The “Times” Paris correspondent says a Bill has been tabled by M. Painleve as Minister of War, providing for the organisation of the nation for war. It is pointed out that although during the Great War. all resources of the belligerents, both of men and materials, wore eventually mobilised, it took time and the organisation had to be improvised. The French Government now intends fo make it possible, in case of war, to harness the whole nation immediately for tho purposes of national defence, merely by issuing the necessary orders.
