RECOVERED FROM THIEVES’ DEALER. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] ROME. July S. The -stolen Vatican jewels have been recovered. Three of the thieves were discovered among workmen who were repairing the treasury. They refused to disclose where the plunder was hidden, but a detective, pretending to be a buyer of stolen goods, got into touch with a shoemaker who was suspected of being a receiver. This man revealed the hiding place, whereupon the police broke in and seizeq the lost chalices, from which the gems had been removed. The stones were discovered in a pair of shoes.
