YOGI LANE

A BKILLJANT AND SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. If the patrons last night at the Yogi Land Cabaret were not satisfied with their evening’s entertainment, they must be very hard to please. The decorations were everything that could bo desired and a distinctly original style was in vogue. The stage was very effectively decorated with a screen with the words “Yogi Land” sot in a Japanese setting of Chinese lanterns. Palms and lycopodium were also used to great advantage on the stage. Around the hall were a number of small tables. On each table was a little printed “ Menu” cards, and also cards to be filled in for the supper order. Attached to the tables on sticks were balloons, which gave a most original touch of colour to the white tablecloths. The shades on the lights were made of flame-coloured paper with Japanese figures and symbols silhouct. ted on them.

Supper was served at the tables by a competent staff and everything wont like clockwork. The management should be mare than pleased with the auspicious re-opening of the Cabaret on quaint and pleasing lines. The music which was supplied by Larkin’s full orchestra was everything that could bo desired. It is understood that the whole seven instrumentalistswill be engaged on even the ordinary nights the Cabaret is open. Amongst those present were:— Mesdames Bailey (Feilding), H. Knight (Kairanga), Shannon, and Misses Fitzhcrbert (3). Guy (2), Johnston, Baldwin, Bailey, Ashworth, Bctt, Collinson, Levien, Clayton, McMillan, McKegg, Pegden, Nash, ’Mortland Stevens, O’Connell, Renbach, Tremewan.

TO-NIGHT. The Box Plan for Thursday and Friday is at Mr Cam Penman’s, Tobacconist, Rangitilkei Street. A big attendance is expected both nights. No doubt the visitors will patronise it well tonight, while a bumper attendance is certain to-morrow in view of “ the ” attraction, viz.: the specialty dancing of Mr Theo Trcrzise and Miss Marjorie Buckcridge, of Wellington.
