Mrs. Ashton Barker of Waltahora, ■motored _ through from Dannevirko yesterday morning to join tho Main Trunk express for Wellington.

A surprise party numbering 40, visited Mr S. Pederson’s residence, Kimbolton Road, ‘dn Tuesday night. The party, which was organised by Mr W. Cox was a great success. Excellent dance music was supplied by Messrs H. Bennett and Hales (accoreon), and the Bennett Bros, cornet and violin.) Songs were given by the Bristow Bros., arid Mrs and Miss Bristow, and cornet and violin solos by the Bennett Bros, while a mandolin solo was rendered by ‘Mr H. Bristow. Dancing continued till well after midnight, and a splendid supper Was provided by the ladies.
