AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.

FURNITURE FOR THE HOSTEL. Without furniture the hostel attach ed to the Feilding Agricultural College would be incomplete, and at yesterday's meeting of the Oroua County Council a deputation consisting of Messrs. Tolley, Knight, H. Booth, Wild and Atkinson waited on the council with a view to securing financial support. The deputation comprised the Board of Managers, and Mr. Tolley, as chief spokesman, explained that the errand was one concerning agricultural education. By agricultural education, he claimed, they were trying to give boys and girls a bias for the land, as they recognised that the future of New Zealand was in the hands of those who could efficiently handlu its primary products. He stressed the fact that- the managers hod exhausted the channels of revenue ana that it was essential that the hostei should be furnished in order to further this work of training boys for the land . The various county councils, who had supported the college m an enlightened way, realised the benefits which the Institution was to the; district. He was most grateful foithe assistance secured in the past and trusted that, this would be the last occasion on which it would be necessary to appeal for help. After other members of the deputation had expressed their views, the council discussed the matter, and on the motion of Cr. A- Campbell, seconded by Cr. Green, it was decided to make a grant of £IOO.
