P.N. RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the PalNorth River Board was held yesterday, the Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan) presiding. Also present were Trustees W. L. Fitzherbert, W. R. Hopcroft and J. Batehelar. CORRESPONDENCE. From Mr W, R. Hopcroft, slating that the masting date of the Board clashed with the meeting date of the Manawatn-Oroua Power Board, and advising an alteration in date. —Decided to alter tlf> date of the meeting to the third Monday in the month. From the Government Statistician, acknowledging receipt of annual return to March 31, 1923.—Received. GENERAL. It was propose! by Trustee Fitzherbert and seconded by the chairman that a nulling be held on August 13, 1923, when the Board under provision of Section 87, of "The River Boards Act, 1908," as amended by Section 9 of "The River Boards' Act Amendment Act, 1913," and [faction 48 of "The Rating Act 1908," will make a general rate on a graduated scale on all properties in the Board's District other (ban lands classified class "D" of 10-lGths of penny in the £ on the unimproved value of lands classified "A" of G-lGths of a penny in the £ on the unimproved value of lands as class of "B." of 4-lGlhs of a penny on unimproved lands classified "C" for the rt?rlod commencing from March 31, 1923 to Mach 31, 1924, such rates to be payable in one sum on August 20, 1923, at the Board's office, the Square, Palmerston North. Trustee Fitzherbert advocated engagement of an experienced engineer for the work of the Board, and moved that applications Ma called for.— Carried. The matter of deciding salary, etc. was left in the hands of the chairman and Trustee Fitzherbert.
