TRIBUTE ;ix> NEW ZEALAND, TRAVELLER’S JUDGMENT. New Zealanders will remember the visit to the Dominion last year of Mr W. D. Boyce, an American journalist, and owner of “The Blade,” Chicago. Mf Boyce was then on a tour embracing all the countries south of the equator. In March he completed a 38-days’ trek of South Africa, covering approximately 6000 miles.In an interview at Capetown, c JVIr Boyce was asked what he considered the ideal country of the worn! tor the white man to live and work in. He answered: "New Zealand.” “Statistics prove,” he said, “that in New Zealand man lives nine years longer than he does in the British Isles, and eight years longer than he does in the United States.” Next in order of perfection, he considered Canada, then Australia, and, fourthly South Africa.
Mr Boyce also made an appreciative reference to New Zealand’s treatment of the Maori population.
