ASHHURST NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Prior to his early retiremeit from business Mr H. W. Sharp, licensee of the Commercial Hotel, Ashhurst, was visited by about 30 of Iris Ashhurst friends on Saturday afternoon. Mr C. V Ciochctto, in presenting Mrs Sharp with a handsome three-deck cake tray, and Mr Sharp with a cigar holder, re. ferred to the kindly feeling and friendship which had always existed towards the guests, and expressed the regret that was felt at their early de. parturc. Mr and Mrs Sharp would take with them the best wishes, not anly from those present, but of a large lumber who were unable to bo present that afternoon.
Air Sharp thanked the gathering and expressed the surprise the presentation afforded. He had made many friends in Ash hurst, and appreciated the foci, ing that brought them there that after, noon. In going out of business < it would be very pleasant to think that that gathering had taken place just bo. fore leaving. He thanked thorn fortheir handsome presents, and could assure them he -would retain the kindliest feeling for the friends he made in Ashhurst during his eight years’ residence there. Musical honours and three hearty cheers substantiated tire fact that Mr and Mrs Sharp were “jOllj v godd "fellows/’ *
