The double salt tax remains the most prominent political problem. Several members of legislatures have resigned since the Viceroy’s certification. The Democratic party has ap. pealed to the Viceroy to call a special session of the legislature to pass a resolution asking His 3lajesty-iu-Council to disallow the double salt tax, but the Viceroy has refused.
