Cable Association.] Received Sunday, 7 p.m.) BRISBANE, 3lay 13. After a strenuous election campaign, ti[3 State elections were yesterday held in fine weather, and passed off quietly. The issue was practically confined to Labour verus antiLabour. 31r Theodore’s pre-election forecast that Labour would retain command with a majority of not less than eight, appears from the early figures likely to be fulfilled. Though most of the returns are still incomplete, Labour appears to have won thirty-eight seats, the United Party sixteen, and the Country Party five.

In the remaining thirteen, Labour is leading in seven constituencies, and the Country Party in the balance. The last Parliament consisted of thirtyseven Labour members, twenty-four Country Party, and eleven Nationalists.

Since the dissolution, the United Party has been formed, consisting of The Nationalists’ section of the Countryites. Both sections of the countryites, are, however, anti-Labour.
