A love tragedy of two children was revealed when their bodies were found, with arms clasped, in the Saint 3lartin canal. The boy, aged fifteen, and the girl, aged fourteen, worked in the same factory and grew fond of each other. The overseer caught them kissing and warned the girl he would tell her parents. She, fearing that he would carry out his threat, told the boy that she intended drowning herself, and he said he would do the same.
