A DIFFICULT TRUST.
NEW GUINEA MANDATE. [By Electrio Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.? MELBOURNE, July 1. The official report dealing with the military occupation of tho mandated territory of New Guinea states:—The native population is estimated at 350,000 to 400 000. The labour question is difficult, even in the modest stage attained by the tropical agriculture of about 150.000 acres under cultivation. The supply of plantation labour is already inadequate. The cost of the military administration from the date of occupation to the transfer to the civil administration was £1,192,000, and the revenue £884,000.
