MANAWATU HUNT.
SUCCESSFUL “MEET” AT PARORANGE The Manawatu meet at Parorangl on Saturday afternoon, and beautiful weather enticed out a big gathering of hunting men and spectators, ine hunt was over the prope^ 16 ; 3 Messrs Short and Burrell, and two splendid runs were obtained, c-nd paddocks being in grand order for the sport. The first run was from the Parorangi Homestead towards Almadale, and the second roadside back to the homestead. Ihe spectators got a good view of th latter hunt, and some very tine fencing was witnessed. The hounds ran In good style .and though the pace was pretty fast, there was only on spill and no one hurt. The dta* were laid by Messrs L. E. (on Streak) and S. Taylor (on Chaban). Tnose following comprised; Messrs D. B. McEwen (blaster) on Snowflake, ■ Sexton (Huntsman). Roaney. H. Beatson (Hon. Whip), Consul: Mrs F C. Pearson, Paddy Webb, Miss Brenda Banks, Sheila: Messrs E. E. Short, Streak; T. Taylor, Darkness; W Short. Miro; S. Taylor, Chatan. W. Taylor, Ghori; A, Banks Rambipr* H H. Abbott. Storm; A. C. Ward, Greatford: J. Whittaker Puketaro; W D. Young, Sartori; G. Lee, _ Adreene - J R. Northcott. Ruigi; Jno. Northcott. Try Hard: F. C. Pearson, Roaney; W. S. Penny, Dudlej E. Sutherland. Lingard: J. S. Ihomas, Autumn Gale: W. Fry. Comet H. Mawhcrray, Magdabah; H. Northcott, Quick Time, and others. At the conclusion of the hunt, all hands were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs Short. In proposing a hearty vote of thanks to the hostess and the property owners, the President of the Hunt. Mr. S. R. Lancaster, said they were always sure of a hearty welcome from the Short family at Parorangi, and' the followers of the sport and their friends always had a good time there. They were also indebted to Messrs Short and Burrell for the good runs they had m that part of the country.. The motion of thanks was carried with three cheers. Mr. E. E. Short returned thanks, expressing the pleasure they had in their entertaining members ot the Hunt and their friends. The next hunt will be at, the homestead of Mr. S. R. Lancaster, Te Matai, on Wednesday.
