DROUGHT IN EUROPE.

The unseasonably spring-like weather in Western Europe threatens disaster. In Switzerland, where, owing to a drought unprecedented for a century, the waters of the Rhine and Rhone have subsided, fish are being caught by hand. A large stone has been exposed in Lake Geneva, inscribed with the dato 1802, “when seen again the world will bo in tears.”
Hotels are emptying, owing to the exodus of Alpinists. Agriculturists are apprehensive of a disaster if rains which arc expected from the Alps, are longer .delayed.
