The proposal based on a Guild of Socialism has advanced a further stage. The idea is to establish woollen and worsted mills on the site of Parramatta gaol, to be conducted by members of the Textilb Workers Union on co-operative lines, dealing directly with the consumer. Prince Danilo has renounced the Montenegrin throne in favour of his nephew, Michaila, who is now completing his education in England. Queen Milena assumes the regency. Top-making Profits. The British Profiteering Committee, which has been investigating the wool top-making trade, reporting on the basis of an examination of the books of five firms, says that the average profit for 1912 was under Jd per lb. By 1919 the profit was 9d, which was reduced to 6d aftet deducting the excess profits tax. The percentage of nett profit on the capital employed increased from 15 per cent, in 1912 to 39 per cent in 1919, after the deduction of the excess profits tax. The committee adds that top-making is highly speculative. Doesn’t Need Specialist. Mr Storey, New South Wales Premier, yielding to importunities, has agreed to give a short address to Parliamentarians in the House of Commons on Wednesday. H 6 will refer particularly to defence and the White Australia policy. He will also briefly address thb Colonial Institute on Thursday. Mr Storey expects to bo able to visit the battlefields next week. He has been advised that it is unnecessary to consult a specialist at present. .
