SPORTS GROUNDS.
“That with regard to the request of the Cricket Association that the sports ground be top dressed, and their offer to contribute the sum of £SO towards the cost of such work, Mr Black bo authorised to confer with the Association and suggest that one portion only be undertaken this •year, and if agreed to by the Association they be asked to confirm same In writing.”—ln commenting on this recommendation from the Reserves Committee to the Borough Council last evening, Cr. Crabb said the idea of only top dressing half of the grounds was to enanle the other hau to be used for two grounds for the ladies’ hockey tournament ,to be played here in the winter. —Adopted.
The Reserves Commlttf"' recommended that pending the decision of the half holiday poll, the local winter sports associations be informed that the Council will endeavour as far as possible to meet their requirements regarding grounds for the coming season. Cr. Crabb commented that if Wednesday were carried it would ease the position in this connection.; — Adopted.
