At the Nfew Zealand national swimming championship meeting the following heats were swum to-day:— Half-mile. —First heat: Cunnold (Auckland) 1, Champion (Auckland) 2, Hill (Canterbury) 3. Second heat — Cronfield (Auckland) 1, Batchelor (Canterbury) 2, Smith (Auckland) 3. 220 Yards Breast Stroke. —First heat; Deem (Wanganui) 1, Boulton (Wellington) 2, Leeder (Manawatu) 3. Second heat: Crooks (Hawke’s Bay) 1, Claridge (Wellington) 2, Laing (Canterbury) 3. The Royal Life Saving Society’s competition ' for the Wigram Shield lesultcd: —Wellington 127 i points, Wanganui 126, Canterbury 123 i. The Auckland and Otago teams did not compete, only Wellington, Wanganui and Canterbury coming forward. Previous holders of the Shield were Canterbury (1912 and 1913), Wellington (1914) and Auckland (1920). WORLD’S RECORD GONE. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night.
