DANNEVIRKE RACING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Dannevirke Racing Club was held last evening. Mr T. H. G. Lloyd (president) was in the chair. A vote of sympathy was carried mlencc to the relatives of those members who died during the year. . The president said the Club was in <- very satisfactory condition financially. Whatever the cause, it was the first time Since his connection with it, m a period of 25 years, that it « • balance at the bank, and he, behoved it would not be the last time. This year it would have a credit of many hundreds in the bank. .. Mr P. O. Clark sought information in " regard to the Government tax, and this was supplied by the secretary. The report and balance-sheet were ad ?he Cd following officers were elected: Patron, Mr G. Hunter, M.P.; president, Major Armstrong; vice-presidents. Messrs R. N. Blakiston and T. McDermott; treasurer, Mr G. J. E. Bickford; auditor, Mr Clifford Thompson; committee, Messrs Lloyd, Crosse, Jensen and McGovern. Mrs Hartgill presented the Club with a framed enlargement photograph of her husband, the late Mr W. H. Hartgill, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Over a dozen new members were elected. Mr Crosse expressed dissatisfaction with the catering at the last meeting, and recommended the com- | mitteelo effect an improvement. These remarks found approval with members. | 'Hie new president brought up the | question of either raising the subscription or limiting the membership, or having an entrance fee, but Mr Lloyd thought it would bo better to leave matters as they were, and no action was taken.
