PERSONAL PARAGEAPHS.

Mr- and Mrs Joseph Liggins, of Tokomaru, are on a visit to Auckland. Mr S. Tombs, a former resident of Palmerston North, is one of the aspirants for a seat on the Hamilton Borough Council. The latest casualty list contains the names of Capt, S. G. McDonald,. M.C., Palmerston North, and Private A. A. Brown, Dannevirke, among the not severe cases.

Rev. G. S. Cook, -who has been appointed successor to Rev. L. W. Boys, has arrived in Palmerston and will conduct his opening services at St. Paul's. Broad Street, at 11 a.m. on Sunday next.

At last night's Centenary celebrations of the 1.0.0. F. (a.e.) Orient Lodge, the presentation w r as made to Bro. James Fahey of his Past Grand certificate by Junior P.G. Bro. Mellor, who referred to the good work of Bro. Fahey during his connection with the lodge for the past ten years, and also his good work on the Friendly Societies' Council. P.G. Bro. Fahey suitably responded. At last night's meeting of the parishi'oneers of All Saints' Church a motion of appreciation of the services of Mr J. L. Barnicoat was carried with acclamation. Mr O. Monrad and Mr A. Skerman, colleagues of Mr Barnicoat, in church work over a long period of years, spoke of the splendid work he had done and expressed a hope that though he would be leaving Palmerston in the near future, he would be eventually return. These remarks were cordially endorsed by the vicar, the Rev. H. G. Blackburne.
