THE JUGO-SLAVS —A BLUNDER.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—The motion passed the other evening re the Jugo-Slavs was a mistake. It was agreed to without doubt, in ignorance of the facts, which arc:(1) Th e Slavs for centuries detested their German and Austrian aggressors. (2) For centuries both Germany and Austria endeavoured to crush the Slav spirit and nationality. (3) Since tho war began, Austria has supressed all the principal Slav newspapers. (4) Since the war began Austria has suppressed practically all Slav associations, friendly societies, clubs, literary circles, athletic associations. (5) Austria murdered, imprisoned, or otherwise disposed of Slav leaders, wholo regiments of Slavs were shot, and the Slav people subjected to the most inquisitorial tyranny. (6) Tons of thousands of Slav soldiers have fought in the Serbian, Eussian, Italian, French and British armies, against Germany and Austria. At such a time, it is our duty to stand by all our allies, and none arc more solidly on our side than the Slavs, Had the facts been known, I am sure tho motion would not have been passed, and I would like to see another meeting called to rescind it. —I am, etc., WM. THOMSON.
