EXTENDING OUR TRADE
HIGH COMMISSIONER OX THE ALERT. By Electric Telegraph.—Press Association —Copyright. Received 10.20 p.m. LONDON, May 27. The Hon. T. Mackenzie had a lengthy conference with the president and secretary of the French Chamber of Commerce in London respecting the extension of trade with France, particularly in produce. Mr Mackenzie detailed the situation in regard to meat and New Zealand extending her markets, especially to the United States. He suggested that a nation which is alert' now would be in a better position for securing a share of New Zealand trade than those maintaining the Customs barrier. The president intimated that he was anxious to facilitate an increase in trade.
