CONCILIATION BOARD.
PALMERSTON MADE A CENTRE. BUTTER-WORKERS' DISPUTE. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Th& Conciliation Board will sit on February sth at Palmerston North to hear the butter-workers' dispute. It has been decided by the Board to regard Palmerston as the centre of a district, and evidence concerning disputes in the surrounding localities will be taken there.
The Board will sit in Palmerston on the Bth prox. to hear the claims of the Palmerston Painters' and Decorators' Union. The union claims that recognised hours of work shall be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on five days of the week, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday; one hour to be allowed each day for dinner (Saturday excepted) from the Ist day of September to the 30th day of April, both days inclusive, and from the Ist day of May to the 31st day of August from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on five days of the week, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday; one half-hour to be allowed each day for dinner (Saturday exqepted). All journeymen painters, paperhangers, glazeirs, grainers, and decorators, and all other journeymen working at any branch of the trade to be paid not less than Is 4><d per hour.
