President Fallieres -was returning from ■a review at Longchamps when as he was passing along the Avenue Marigny in Paris two revolver shots were fired by a maval reservist named Maille. Two policemen seized Maille and prevented him filing again. The shots hit no one. M. Faillieres tamed slightly pale but smiled and bowed and drove on. The police consider Maille deranged though he denies any mental aberration and states that hie motive in firing was to attract attention to a grievance between himself and the State.
