BUNNYTHORPE BUDGET.

The Library Concert. Mail Train Doesn't Stop. Wanted, a Kelvin Grove Siding.

(Own Correspondent.) A most er.joyable social was held in our Public HaU on the evening of the 22nd ins-t. in aid of the Public Library fu;.d3. Tho first part of the entertainment consisted of games and music. Sor.gs were given by Messrs Allington, Maclean, Slipper, and Mi3s Hilda Bennett, of Wellington, the lady kindly giving two most exquisite songs, in fact the singing of Miss Bennet was something of a revelation to us" Mr Ailington's song. " The Euglishman," was beautifully sung, ar,d we hope to hear this gentleman sing at all our public functions. The aceornpenirneuts were played by Miss Augusta ScheidS. Ample refreshments were provided by the Library Committee, and several ladies kindly volunteered their services in dispensing the same. After a slight interval dancing was indulged in, the pianists being tho Misses Scheidt and Maclean and Mr Slipper. I understand the returns from tne social are most satisfactory, and Miss Connie Maclean aided materially towards such a result by disposing of a large number of buttonholes. Undoubtedly our library will benefit very much, and I must compliment the committee upon the result, also upon the number of good, useful, and valuable books lately added to the bookshelves. It has been suggested to me that it is about time the settlers here met and took steps to have tho mail train stop here. These trains used to do sc, but for some reason this was altered, consequently it uff.cts our mails, end, in fact, as 1 heard one settler put it, " Bunnythorpe is put back one." There is every reason for the express trains to stop here and none against it, and I would strongly advise all the settlers here to rise en masse and protest agaiust such stupid, regulation?. I would also like to voico the requirements of Kelvin Grove. It is high time they had a platform there. In these days ol engineering skill it is all bunkum for the railway authorities to say a fl'ig station cannot be put there hecause cf somo curve or another.. Kelvin Grove is a centre, perhaps not large, of a most productive) district, and shou'd bo accommodated.
