HEAVY MIDDAY RAIN
SPORTS AFFECTED
Heavy rain which fell in Palmerston North shortly after midday today interfered with the holding of sports fixtures in the city, 'the grounds being well soaked. Hail was experienced on the northern' sjde of the city. Tennis clubs, if matches in the third series of the Manawatu Tennis Association’s • inter-club competition could not be proceeded with, were to make their own arrangements for playing the matches scheduled for today at a later date. llain, which commenced at 10 p.m. last evening, brought colder conditions with it. Many residents returning from theatres received a thorough soaking. On the higher country beyond Apiti there was an appreciable fall of snow, and in the Apiti area there was a frost, which cut potato tops.
