Jumping from the Napier-Welling-ton express yesterday, about 1 o’clock, just after it had moved off from the Palmerston North railway station, James Trevor Alorgan, formerly of Palmerston North, who was under tlie escort of a warder, made his and was at liberty until about 7 p.m., when lie was re-arrested by the police. Alorgan had been sentenced in the Napier Alagistrate’s Court to 12 months’ gaol on Tuesday on a charge of having converted a motor-car valued at £SOO. ’The car had been damaged and Alorgan had suffered an injured ankle. In the Alagistrate’s Court today, Morgan was charged that, having been convicted ot an offence, he escaped from custody. He was remanded to appear before the Court in Wellington on August 30.
