TO PLAY AT LORD'S
MANAWATU CRICKETER
(Ree. 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 21. The New Zealand Central Mediterranean Force cricketers have arrived in England for a charity match at Lord's on Thursday and Friday.
They said they hoped that General Alexander, who suggested the game, would fly from Italy to see it. A surprise arrival in the party of 16 was Corporal T. L. Pritchard, the demon bowler, who took all 10 wickets, nine clean bowled, in a Wellington match three seasons ago. Pritchard was picked to go to England at half an hour's notice. He bowled at the Lord's nets today in brown drill trousers, a grey shirt and boots two inches too long for him.
Cricketers in the Manawatu and elsewhere throughout New Zealand will await with much interest news of the performances of Corporal Pritchard at the famous Lord's cricket ground. For several years Pritchard was the mainstay of the Manawatu representative team's attack, as he was also in Plunket Shield matches for Wellington, and he has numerous outstanding feats to his credit. He has been described as one of the best fast bowlers New Zealand has ever produced.
