NATIONAL WAR SAVINGS
August: opened in a promising manner in the Palmerston North district in connection with deposits to National War Sayings. Only one alteration took place in (he list of 20 offices obtaining their weekly quota, i. 0.. Bulls dropping out and being replaced hv Ohau. The city again did splendidly, reaching the highest total for the present financial year, outside of the Victory Loan period. Of an aggregate of £7493 17s 7d for the district, the city returned £4901 11s 7d. Other offices winch did well were: Feilding. £839; Dnnnevirke, £707; Raliiatua, £502; Levin £118; Ohau, £B4: Rangiotu, £76, and Shannon, £72. Last week 257 towns attained their quotas of National Savings. All tho principal centres were again successful and in each of the 19 postal districts the full district objective was readied.
