Tho King has also conferred the following honours on members of the New Zealand Forestry Unit who are at present serving overseas. Major-General Bell, A.D.C. to the King, who has boon Commandant of the Northern Military District for tho past three years. Tn October, 1915, he proceeded on active service with the Fourth Reinforcements as a captain in the Rifle Brigade, and served in Egypt, Gallipoli, France, and Belgium. lie was wounded in action in September, 1918, In that year he was awarded tho D.S.O. for conspicuous gallantry and ability during an attack, was later awarded the French Croix de Guerre, and was mentioned in dispatches on three occasions. lie has held many posts, silica tho last war ended, in the Now Zealand Forces.
