All the available evidence indicates that Stalin’s second front statement has been coolly received in responsible military quarters in Washington and London, says the New York Herald-Tribune’s Washington correspondent. London. —The Berlin radio says an attempt, was made by Syrian Nationalists to assassinate the Governor of Aleppo while he was motoring to Damascus. The Governor was severely wounded.
