REPERTORY SOCIETY
An unrehearsed incident occurred at the Balmcrston North branch of the Roperlory Society’s play-reading last evening when, before the commencement, the lights failed for some time. However, despite this delay, the reading was a most satisfactory one, and the family play, including characters of three genera tons (grandmother, mother and (laughlct ) was sympathetically performed. A fea-ture-was the introduction in tho east ot Iwo members of the school tumor branch of the society, who took the parts ot schoolgirls of their own ago and their freshness and spontaneity added to he success of tho play. The producer (Miss E Scott) was heartily congratulated on the work she had done. These taking part were: Mo-dames J. Ashwc.l, R. D° lb . > T Attwood, Misses E. Bennett and J. Hart, Major J. T. Bosworth and Mr J. Kitchen. At the conclusion of the reading Mr M. 11. Oram (president of the nciclv) announced that the programme for the rest of the ■ season will consist of an evening of junior one-act pi w hich will take place shortly, fo lowed by further one-act plays, ■ and a.vfelago production.
