TROTTING CLUB’S YEAR
In presenting the report of tho Manawatu Trotting Club for the year ended July 3], 1942. the president (Mr J. Batchelar) states that tho dub encountered many obstacles, but for w'hich Hie year would have been o. most successful one iastcad of showing a small loss on the whole of tho workings. “The trotting pormits linvo been cut down by 50 per cent owing to war conditions,” tho report adds, “and much to our surprise the club’s permits have been cut out for the present season, but tho committee will use their best endeavours to havo the permits restored in the near future. In our opinion, Hie small dubs, especially in the North Island, we re treated rather harshly, and the position of Palmerston North and tho Manawatu district warrants a permit for our club. During the yenr several of tho members have passed away and we sincerely regret the passing of Mr W. Mouldey (who was president for many years), also Messrs A. N. Beattie, T Close, E. L. Barnes, J. D. Piper and IV. Clapp. No cloction of officers is necessary this year
