KILLING SEASON. PRODUCTION AND QUALITY. The 1940-41 killing season, the second since the start cf the war, has again boon excellent, both for production and quality, according to the annual report of tho Meat Producers’ Board. “Tho total sheep flocks in tho Dominion as at April 30. 1940,” states the report, "were 31,062,375, a reduction cf 834,216 on tho previous year. The number of breeding ewes at tho same date was 19,727,657, a reduction of 232.642 on the previous year; representing 63.5 per cent, of tho total flocks, tho highest percentage yet reached. The lambing percentage of tho Dominion was estimated at 90.21 per cent., or a yield of 17,796,006 lambs.

Last season's record kill of lambs has been exceeded this season, and it is estimated that tho season will finish with an export kill of approximately 11,175.000 lambs compared with 10.387,137 for 1939-40 season. This season’s kill will represent a new record in the percentage of export killings to tailings.”
