The Stan way Hall was filled when a een cert of outstanding merit was. presented by members of tho institute drama circle and visitors. Institute concerts have long been an attraction in this district and this presentation proved no exception to tho rule. Tlie following was the programme: — Mouth organ solos. Air B. Short; recitation, Miss Lawrence; iap dance, Miss D. Managh; sketch (humorous), Miss C. Marshall and Air G. Buchanan: songs, Airs AI. Winder; humorous play, members of the drama circlo (produced by Aliss Clere), thoso taking part being, Alcsdatnes Marshall, Harvey. Hamilton, and Misses R. Marshall, Nola Jefferies. J. Groves J. Rosser and Mr A. Marshal]: recitation. Air G. Buchanan; “Mime” (a farce). Tho last item was a new form of entertainment to most of tho audience. Tho costumes wero colourful and the forest, setting effective and the characters were interpreted by Mrs Harvey, Alisses J. Rosser, N. Jeffe.r* ins, .7. Groves, L. Jefferies, J. Wilson, G. ATarshall and .Miss R. Marshall (pianist). There followed a song by Aliss A. Raynor and a recitation by Aliss Elaine Short. A patriotic tableaux was a fitting closing item; .it took tho form of tho allied nations impersonated by members of the drama circle in costume, grouped about Britannia (Miss Zena Jefferies). A largo institute badge held pride of place before Britannia’s throne. Tlie countries represented wero.—United States (Aliss J. Rosser), Africa (Miss J. Groves); Australia (Aliss J. Christian) : Ireland (Miss AI. Marshall) : Scotland (Alias J. Wilson); Wales (Miss T. Craine) : India (Miss N. Jefferies), Canada (Aliss D, Callinghani) ; Now Zealand (Miss G. ATarshall), Aliss G. Marshall taking the solo parts in tho songs. At. the conclusion of the programme Aliss Clere thanked tho visiting artists for helping tn make the programme such a success, and also the laigc audience for their patronage.
