NOTES.
The annual meeting of the V oodviilo and District Ladies’ Patriotic Society will bo hold in the Parish Hall on the 16th mst. Mr D. Keay acknowledges the following additions to the patriotic funds:—London Relief Fund: Anonymous, £l, bringing the total to £49 11s. Provincial Fund: Woodville Intermediate Club, £1 Is; anonymous, £l. At the home of Mr and Mrs J. Hutchinson. Papatawa, at the week-end, Mr K. Vogt,, of Woodville, was the central guest in an entertaining coming-of-age celebration and was the recipient, of numerous congratulations. Mrs A. E. Gothard, who lias been recuperating at the home of her daughter, Airs G. E. Hunt, rit Rangiotu, has returned to her home in Ferguson Street, Alisa B. Coleman, of Palmerston North, is visiting her parents. Mr and Airs J. D. Coleman. Fox Street. In the course of discussions at the Patriotic Society’s meeting, this week, a wide variety of points were raised relative to the disposal and control of patriotic funds, the possibility of subscriptions above the quotas going to the War Expenses Account, rehabilitation, and other matters about which doubt existed. The chairman gave a great deal of information gathered from the several conferences ho had attended. and rep’ied to various question. Near the conclusion of the meeting, Air ]S. D. Cat.tanach (Papatawa) ' announced that his committee bad decided not to suppert the £1,000,000 appeal until the position regarding rehabilitation had been clarified. Ho stated that the Papatawa committee was in tho .same position as the Woodville societv was in when it decided to forward tho remit, seeking a clear statement on the subiect. and as it had not met to consider the matter since then ,he was at the moment in an awkward position.
