YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB. At a meeting: of the Woodville and Dis trict Young Farmers’ Club, last evening, Mrs A. Compton, who presided, expressed the club’s disappointment in the fact that, owing to, a member of the Dannevirke debating team having suddenly become ill, the Dannevirke team would default in the Southern Hawke’s Bay championship final which was to have taken place at the present meeting, therefore the championship honour —a mock victory—fell to the Woodville team. After a discussion, it was decided to offer the Dannevirke Club the opportunity of a debate involving the championship at a later date Correspondence relative to forthcoming shearing competitions, was considered. The chairman and secretary were appointed to deal with entries, several of which were immediately forthcoming. Particulars relative to stock-judging competitions were also presented, and the secretary was instructed to advise the district secretary of the club’s desire to enter teams under the conditions set forth. The Papatawa-Mangarawa - Maliarahara Patriotic Society conveyed thanks for the club’s donation to its funds When the collection of waste metals was discussion a member suggested the searching of rubbish tips for discarded aluminium utensils, and referred to a dump which contained much of this material. It was suggested that collection from these sources would be done better with a county truck than by individuals.
