CRIPPLED CHILDREN.

MANAWATU BRANCH

At a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society, on Monday, Mr W. G. Black presided. The secretary (Mr G. G. Priest) reported on a recent meeting of the Wanganui and Manawatu joint sub-committees at which satisfactory discussion rook place regarding treatments, etc., of crippled children. Mr Priest also reported on visits to sub-branches at Dannevirke and Woodville and the work being carried out there. Steps were taken to arrange for an address ou the work of the society at a meeting of the Foxton sub-branch in the near future.

A deputation from the Palmerston North Notary Club, consisting of Messrs J. Solwyn and R. T. Jaggard, was received and arrangements concerning the proposed Christmas party for crippled children, in the Manawatu district were discussed. Messrs Priest and E. E. Nansett and Misses M. Poole and E. Aitken, and Mrs W. GBlack were delegated to meet Messrs Selwyn, Jaggard and K. G. Chamberlain at a later date to deal with the matter.

An offer of trophies for an annual competition among crippled children of the Manawatu district was gratefully received from Mr L. M. Justice. A suitable competition is to be arranged by the executive. A donation of £5 was received from the Manawatu County Council while the Horovr henua County Council notified its intention of donating £5 ss.
