PATRIOTIC APPEAL.
KAIRANGA COUNCIL’S SHARE. Details of the now patriotic appeal to be made shortly were placed be.ore the Kairanga County Council meeting to-day by Mr J. C. Young. Mr Young said that the appeal was for £3,000,000, which seemed a large sum, but which would be necessary to meet the demands. The appeal had a threefold object—to provide money for Britain for damage caused in air raids, to provide comforts and parcels for New Zealand soldiers in camp, and for rehabilitation. On a population basis the share of Palmerston North find district would be £18,500. It was suggested that separate funds be conducted for Palmerston North and the Kairanga County, and the share of Kairanga would be £3IOO. The two funds would be acknowledged in separate lists. The appeal would start on October 1-1 and would last for five or six weeks.
Mr Yofing answered several questions and the council expressed approval of the position as he had outlined
