IN BANKRUPTCY.
The Deputy Official Assignee presided at a meeting of creditors, yesterday, in the bankrupt estate of Henry Gordon Wiekes, lately an hotel-keeper ai Woodville. Only two creditors attended, others being represented. Bankrupt’s statement was to the effect that lie commenced business with £IOO and various loans, ns lessee of the Central Hotel, Woodville. For the first 15 months business was good, but in the iollowing IS months, and particularly tho pact seven or eight months, the business dropped considerably, the loss on the past year’s trading being £175. It was further stated that the business had been carried on in an oideriy manner, without any excessive expenditure. Bankrupt ascribed his failure to the petrol restrictions curtailing business usually derived from the travelling public. The statement disclosed no assets, and brankrupt was not pressed by the creditors to make any proposals. A fishing competition was held at the week-end under the auspices of Woodville Anglers’ Club, when the results wore: F. ICbbott, 5 fish (51b 8|oz); J. Scott, 2 fish (21b 15oz), Tho club reports an increase in the number of licenses issued this season.
