The report of the president (Mr R. S. Downes) presented at the annual meeting of the Cricket Club, referred to the last season being a successful one, the club having won the Hbrowhenua Championship. The club has a credit balance of £9 18s. “The members are determined to carry on the game in the present unsettled times, and I hope the interest will be maintained so that those of our members who leave these shores on military service can return and take their places again in the team without the re-forming of the club,” the report adds. “Up to the present time one of our members, Mr N. Rettor, has left on military service. A past member. Mr Birch, after his transfer to ' the local school joined the First Echelon and Mr Retter left with the Second Echelon after being farewelled by the club. With regard to the Horowhenua championship this ia the third time the shield has been won since the club was formed in 1929 and the third time in the last four years, which is indeed a very good record. Tho prospects for the coming season lookbright. Several young players are coming forward and some of the past members aro showing a renewed interest in the game.” The following oflicers were elected: —Patron, Mr W. Clayton; president, Mr R. S. Downes; lion-, secretary, Mr R. Graham; treasurer, Mr E. Murrow; vice-presidents, Mr M. O’Reilly and Mr J. A. Roach; club captain, Mr 11. Moore; delegates to centre, Messrs H. Hope, R. Graham and H. Moore. Mr J. T. Bovis presided at the animal meeting of the Swimming Club. The report presented by the secretary (Mr D. Gyde), stated that the baths proved very popular, and the club had a membership of 31 seniors, and 52 juniors. It finished the year with a credit of £ll 14s lid. The afternoon carnival held at the end of the season attracted support from outside swimmers and the public, and 100 trophies were distributed. Officers elected are: President. Mr W. R.
