HOME GUARD.

GENERAL YOUNG IN COMMAND. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. The announcement was made to-day by the Minister of National • Service (Hon. R. Semple) that Major-General R. Young has been appointed Dominion Commander of the Home Guard. “I consider we nre extremely fortunate in obtaining the services of so distinguished a soldier and administrator for this. General Young’s administrative ability will be of the greatest assistance in the setting up of the organisation. and he will be commencing, his new duties without delay,” said tho Minister “Now that the preliminaries have been completed, I propose to press ahead with the organisation of the Home Guard in the various districts with the utmost expedition, and General Young’s co-operation on tile military side of the organisation will he of the greatest assistance in establishing the guard on a firm and successful footing.”
