WEDDING. St. David’s Presbyterian Church, YVoodville, was the scene of a pretty wedding on the afternoon of June 29, when Marjorie Jean, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Singers, of Masterton Road, Woodville, was married to James William, third son of Mr and Mrs J. AV. Turley, of Pukehou, Hastings. Rev. W. H. Nichols officiated and Mrs W. Galbraith presided at the organ. The church had been tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. Escorted by her father, the bride made a charming picture in a frock of ivory brocaded satin faconne, fashioned with high neckline and a row of tiny buttons running down the back to the waistline, and long fitting sleeves forming a point over the hands. The gored skirt fell into an oval train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and formed a second train. A beautiful bouquet of narcissi, roses and maidenhair fern, made by the bride's grandmother, completed a most becoming toilette. In attendance were two bridesmaids, Misses Maude Moiintfort (chief) and Nola Carrington, cousin of the bride, who were frocked in gold and pink snake-skin taffeta, fashioned with a shirred bo’Jice with heart-shaped neck and puff sleeves. Velvet ribbon to tone was worn on the head, and they carried bouquets of gold and pink zinnias, ranunculi and maidenhair fern, also made by the bride’s grandmother. Little Judith Retter; niece of the bride, made a dainty flower-girl, being attired in a full-length gown of lavender snake-skin taffeta with little bows and sash of lavender velvet. She carried a posy to tone. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Brace Turley, brother of the bridegroom, and those of groomsman by Mr Douglas Crancfield. After the ceremony, the guests were received at the Foresters’ Hall by Mrs Singers, wearing a London tan frock with navy coat a-nd hat and a spray of tinted flowers to tone. She was assisted in her task by Mrs Turley, who wore a cyclamen frock and hat with a fur coat and a spray of flowers to tone. Later, the happy couple loft by car for the north, the bride travelling in a vitricol blue frock with navy blue coat and hat and accessories to tone.
