At the first annual meeting of the New Zealand Founders’ Society, held in AVellington last night, the report showed the membership to be 389, an increase of 80 since March. Among the vice-presidents elected wa6 Mr James Knight, of Feilding. In the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., Lionel George Hood, alias AVilson, labourer, aged 43, was charged that, on August 12, he stole an overcoat valued at £4; also that he had been found drunk in a public place. On the application of SeniorSergeant J. Mclntyre a remand was granted till Monday on the theft charged, accused being convicted and discharged on the other. Bail was allowed in accused's own recognisance of £25 and a similar nurety.
