OBITUARY.
MRS A. P. ROSY ALL. There passed away, after a long illness, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Cavill, of Wanganui, an old and respected resident of Palmerston North in the person of Mrs Mary Jane Rosvall, wife of Mr A. P. (Jim) Rosvall, Queen Street, Palmerston North. Born in Havelock North 75 years ago, she was the third daughter of the fate Mr and Mrs A. V. Harrison, of Manurewa, Auckland. She married Mr Rosvall at Mareretu 54 years ago, and for the last 40 years has been a resident of this district. She was of a retiring disposition and did not take part in any activities outside her home. • Mrs Rosvall is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs Cavill (Wanganui) and five sons. Messrs Fred, Frank, Alick and Darcy Rosvall (all of Palmerston North), and Stanley (of Foxton Beach). There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs W. Hosking. of Snelson Street, is a sister of the deceased lady.
MRS EMILY DAVIES
Mrs Emily Davies, widow of Mr Richard Davies, one of the early settlers of Paraparaumu, died in a Wellington private hospital on Saturday, aged 90 years. She was a member of a family of early Nelson pioneers, Mr and Mrs David Wootton, who arrived in the Fifcshirc in February, 1841. Mrs Davies and her sister Maria (the late Mrs Clark) came to Wellington moro than 70 years ago, and together were associated at the school for ladies, conducted by the Misses Greenwood, The Terrace. The sisters were married at a double wedding in St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in February, 1877, by Rev. M. Harvey. When the Manawatu Railway Company offered for selection farm areas at Paraparaumu Mr and Mrs Davies secured a block and began the process of carving out a home and farm from virgin bush, which a member of the family occupies to-day. In 1901 Mr Davies died, having served the young district in many useful capacities. Mrs Davies is survived by four daughters, Mrs It. Pink (Waikanac), Mrs Phillips (Feilding), Mrs Sharpo (Fcatherston) and Mrs' Douglas Bryan (Karori), and two sons, John (Ohau) and William (Paraparaumu). Ono son, Frederick, was killed in action in Franco in 1916.
