Ltd., report the following prices for this week according to quality and grade: Hothouse tomatoes, Is to Is 4d- lb.; tree tomatoes, 7s 6d to 9s 6d; Chinese gooseberries. 5s to 11« per box; New Zealand grapefruit, 7s 6d to 11s; lettuce, 6s to 11s; celery, 9s to 14 s : leeks, 5s to ss; silver beet, 2s to 4s 6d per case; cabbage, Savoy, 6s to 7s 3d; Drumhead, 6s 6d; cauliflowers. 8s 3d to 11s super bags; carrots, 2s 6d; parsnips, 2s 6d to 3s 6d sugar bags; swedes, 2s to 3s super; turnips. Is 3d; spinach, 2s; beetroot, Is 6d; rhubarb, 6s to 13s dozen bunches; pumpkins (good), 6s to 7s 6d super; onions. 11s cental; potatoes (Sutton’s), 5s to 6s cwt.
Australian Wool Stocks. Australia will have less wool for appraisement this season than during the year ended June 30 last. Apart from Pm newly-shorn wool,' the carry-over s(ocks aro negligible compared with the 115.245 bales held over at the close of June. 1939. In addition to that quantity, supplies of the staple were on hand in repnekers and other stores besides the warehouses of selling brokers, which added to the totals appraised for the 12 months.,
