FEILDING STOCK SALE.

MUTTON PRICES SOAR.

STORE SHEEP PRICES FIRM. At tho Fcilding stock sale yesterday the fat sheep market attracted considerable attention and the prices for all classes of mutton appreciated with a 5s rise in relation to tho ewe mutton which made up to 44s lOd. ' The yarding of fat sheep was not as large as last week’s but nevertheless, there was a fairly good supply. Tho quality was rather mixed and a few shorn sheep were offered. There was also a very bright tone in the store sheep section and values were fully firm on late rates. Another heavy offering of beef was sold at values a shade higher than those ruling last week, and the dairy cattle, of which there was only a moderate yarding, also maintained late rates. Station and boner cattle made satisfactory prices. DAIRY CATTLE.

very free market fully firm on rates ruling at last week's sale. Dairy section: A smaller yarding than usual came to hand and for any quality close-to-prolit cows or heifers we report a market .fully firm on last week's rates. Here again it is quite apparent that the supply in the near future will bo in no way equal to the demand, provided reasonable weather conditions prevail. The usual offering ot store and boner cows met with keen competition at rates firm on last week. Horses: An offering of specially advertised horses on account of a South Island vendor created considerable attention, and wo have to report a decided hardening in the horse market __ at yesterday’'., salo in comparison with rates ruling over the past two or three months. It definitely looks as though the horse market in the near future will harden considerably. GOOD SALE OF DAIRY STOCK The X.Z. Fanners’ Co-op. Dist. Co., Ltd., report on their Kimbolton sale of dairy stock: Doing reared on liigh country, dairy stock from this locality do particularly well when brought down country, and the fixture attracted a large attendance of buyers from the Manawatu, i’aliiatua and Rangitikei districts. The offering was in excess of advertised numbers and the sale went with a swing from the -start, resulting in the most satisfactory sale of dairy stock held by us tliio season. For the most part the cattle came forward in good order and reflected credit on the large number of vendors. With the exception of two unsound cows the whole offering was quitted at auction and the inquiry w r as so keen that, had it been available, a much larger entry could have been absorbed. A large quantity of farm produce, stock and poultry was sold for patrioticfunds as the result of a drive undertaken by the Young Farmers’ Club, upwards of £2OO being realised.
