COMING-OF-AGE PARTY.
At Maharnhara recently a large number of friends assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Hermaneen to celebrate the twenty-first birthday of their second son,, Mr E. Hermansen. Dancing to music supplied by a Palmerston North orchestra led by Mr Carr, who also acted as M.C., proved enjoyable, the programme including modern and * old-time numbers with spot, streamer and confetti dances for added variety. Miss Verna Anderson and Mr L. E. Gleadow played extras. Mr Parrott contributed songs and Miss J. Houlihan a tap dance. Those successful at the card tables were Mesdames E. Edgerton and Hancock and Messrs A. Hancock and R. Reid. The congratulations of the gathering were conveyed to the guest of honour bv Mr Carr, who also presented him with the traditional key. Mr Rusenbeck presented Mr Herma.noen with a cheque oil behalf of fellow members of the Mangatera Eootball Club.
