DRIVERS WARNED.
HAMILTON, Aug. 2. “People iu motor cars have no right to light cigarettes i.n busy thoroughfares like Victoria Street,” said Air S. L. Paterson. S.M., in the Hamilton Court, to-day, when fining Richard Ashley Petty, of Auckland. £2 ami coots for negligent driving. It was explained that- a passenger lit a cigarette for defendant, and the match dropped, causing the driver to swerve his car. which struck a signpost on a pedestrian crossing.
