LADY ROBERTS GIVES WAR TROPHIES.
FOR MELTING DOWN. Lady Roberts, daughter of the famous Field-Marshal, lias given all her father’s trophies of war to the State as part of the salvage scheme for- melting down as material for modern munitions. Mr Herbert Morrison (Min ister of Supply) described the gift as “a splendid example of the spirit that we need. There are field guns and cannon from every one of the FieldMarshal’s own campaigns and priceless historic trophies of war, some of them dating hack for centuries, given to him in gratitude hv the Government of India and others whom lie served.” said Mr Morrison. He urged the whole country .to accept it as a lead and let the world record it as a symbol of the intense will to victory that inspires the whole country. Lady Roberts’s gift to the State came only a few days after the announcement that the‘only heir to the title, her nephew. Captain F. R. A. Lewin, of the Irish Guards, had been killed in action.
